25.28 The soulmates of the ancient forests.

There will always be one Avalonian, be he or she ranger or druid, honoured with the status of soulmate of the forest. This is the person whose woodland affinity is greater than any other active Avalonian; whose closeness of spirit, whose action and intention rank more highly with a particular forest than anyone else. Each of the ancient woodland (the mainland boasts just under twenty) has its own singular preferences - its own ranking of comparative affinities twixt all those of the ranger and druid profession; and each of the ancient woodland has but one soulmate.

Members of the Animists, Rangers, Brigands, Druids and indeed any guild associated with the ranger or druid professions can type FORESTS SOULMATES to gain a list of those soulmates to each of the ancient woodlands in Avalon and beyond.

The soulmate has a number of unique powers, shared with no-one else in the land. He or she is able to affect the fundamental 'personality' of the forest: to make it bellicose or peaceful, to render its borders open or closed, to ensure it looks upon good deeds in a generous or parsimonious light. The soulmate is able (at cost to him/herself) to directly affect the affinity of other individuals, with the particular woodland. The soulmate is able to extend the sylvan powers available to forest sympaticos, when these powers are derived from the specific forest: whether these powers are decided by ranking of affinity; or open to all brethren, open to everyone of a specific guild, or open to everyone. There are few more subtle influential positions in all Avalon.
