10.30 Fires - making and dousing them.

Fire is a destructive and elemental force of great importance in Avalon. There are myriad uses, as a weapon of attack, as a way to destroy defences, as a significant stage in many Farming and Labours processes or even as a means to light a locale or warm you in cold environments.

Syntax: MAKE FIRE
Use this command to make up a fire in your current location. Issuing the MAKE FIRE command will automatically scan your inventory and your surroundings for appropriate 'flammables' like firewood, to use for your fire.

Syntax: DOUSE FIRE USING <container> or DOUSE FIRE WITH <liquid>
You may wish to extinguish a fire you have made, or - particularly when the fire you face is a destructive force, aimed to harm you or your ciy/guild - douse fires burning up important constructions. To do this you use the DOUSE command, followed by a reference to the fire to extinguish, and then USING/WITH followed by the specific container or liquid to employ. Examples are: DOUSE FIRE USING BUCKET or DOUSE FIRE WITH WATER to attempt to extinguish a fire using the contents of the aforementioned bucket, or try to put out a fire with water you have about your person.

See HELP BUCKETS, HELP CONTAINERS, HELP FORTS and HELP BREWING for a range of inter-connected information helpfiles involving fires and their consequences.
